The Office of the Deputy Vice-chancellor for Academic & International Affairs assists the Vice-chancellor to conduct and is responsible for managing, coordinating and monitoring all academic related matters. In particular, the main responsibilities of the Office of the Deputy Vice-chancellor for Academic & International Affairs are to supervise, manage and administer academic matters for Foundation, Diploma, Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree and Doctor of Philosophy programs including:

Student recruitment and admission
Implementation of the academic calendar
Plan, coordinate and monitor matters related to teaching and learning, class schedules, and course registration
Stimulate a conducive and well -organized learning environment
To plan and retain experienced and competent academics
To chair the Academic Committees
To chair the Examination Councils Committee
Process evaluation of results
Academic Development includes planning and coordinating the development of new programs and the improvement of existing curricula
Plan and supervise lifelong learning programs
Plan & oversee the internationalization of academic programs including student mobility programs and academic and research collaborations
Other administrative related duties as directed by the Vice-chancellor

Function of Department

The main role of the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic and International Affairs is to ensure the quality and development of academic programs available at UniSHAMS are implemented smoothly and effectively. The office is also responsible for overseeing overall academic affairs, including examinations, submission and drafting of examination questions and recognition of results, as well as student admission to Foundation, Bachelor's, and Postgraduate programs.

This role is in line with the Vision of UniSHAMS "Becoming a Global Islamic University by Integrating Knowledge and Wisdom". Therefore, the main role of the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic & International Affairs is to ensure the quality of teaching & learning and development of academic programs that meet the needs of the market and industry related to the academic field offered. This office is also responsible for monitoring overall academic affairs including:

Maintain sufficient experienced and competent academic staff.
Improving a structured learning environment.
To formulate a co-curriculum that is comparable to other renowned Institutions of Higher Learning. Quality co-curriculum is recognized by the Malaysian Qualifying Agency (MQA), and related agencies.
Enhancing the image of this university as an institution that produces quality graduates in terms of morals and academics who are capable of becoming leaders of society, institutions and the country.
