Overview
The Bachelor of Shariah program serves as a platform for producing intellectuals who possess comprehensive knowledge and skills in the field of Islamic Shariah, guided by the Quran, the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and the opinions of scholars.
In line with UniSHAMS' mission to produce holistic and professional scholars with noble character, this program is designed to provide excellent educational facilities supported by knowledgeable, highly experienced, and skilled lecturers in the field of Islamic Shariah.
The program's curriculum also emphasizes teaching, research, and community engagement rooted in Islamic values, thereby shaping graduates who are capable of contributing to the development of society and religious institutions.

Full Time: 4 Years

Pass STPM with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 out of 4.00 and at least TWO (2) full passes, and ONE (1) of them in a subject related to Islamic Studies; OR

Pass a qualification equivalent to STPM such as A-level, provided the applicant passes at least ONE (1) Islamic Studies subject in that qualification; OR

Pass a Foundation / Matriculation program or recognized equivalent as Islamic Studies Foundation with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 out of 4.00; OR

Pass STAM with an overall Maqbul grade; OR

Recognized Diploma in Islamic Studies or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 out of 4.00.

1. What is the primary focus of the Bachelor of Shariah program?
The program emphasizes the comprehensive mastery of Shariah knowledge, encompassing Usul Fiqh (principles of Islamic jurisprudence), Fiqh (Islamic law), Maqasid Shariah (objectives of Shariah), and Qawa‘id Fiqhiyyah (Islamic legal maxims), while focusing on the practical application of these laws within a contemporary context.
2. What are the common areas of specialization offered?
The main specializations typically include Fiqh and Usul Fiqh, Shariah Judiciary (Qadha’), Muamalat and Islamic Finance, as well as Fatwa and Islamic Affairs Management.
3. What skills will students acquire?
Students will develop essential skills such as Istinbat (the extraction of rulings from primary sources), the analysis of Turath (classical) texts, academic research within the field of Shariah, and the ability to resolve contemporary issues based on Shariah principles.
4. What are the career prospects for Shariah graduates?
Graduates can pursue diverse career paths, including roles as Islamic Affairs Officers, Shariah Officers or Assistant Qadhis, Shariah Advisors in Islamic finance, lecturers, researchers, or officers within fatwa and religious institutions.
5. How is this program relevant to modern-day challenges?
The program trains students to understand and address modern issues such as Islamic finance, bioethics, and family law by utilizing the Maqasid Shariah approach and contemporary Ijtihad (independent reasoning).
