Overview

The Bachelor of Counseling at UniSHAMS is a professional program designed to produce graduates who are competent, ethical, and highly skilled in the field of guidance and counseling. The program integrates modern counseling theories, human developmental psychology, and effective intervention techniques, while incorporating an Islamic approach that emphasizes the balance between emotional, cognitive, and spiritual aspects in assisting individuals.

This approach enables students to understand human nature holistically and implement interventions that focus not only on behavioral change but also on internal personal development. Throughout the course of study, students will be exposed to fundamental and advanced counseling skills, individual and group intervention techniques, professional ethics, and effective communication skills. The program also places a strong emphasis on practical training through simulations and industrial internships at various relevant organizations. Graduates of this program are expected to become professional counselors and agents of change who contribute to the overall well-being of society.

Programme Objectives
  • Produce scholars and intellectuals by providing skills and knowledge in a specialized field, while enhancing the level of professionalism among counselors in Malaysia.
  • Increase the number of skilled professionals who are proficient in applying theories, techniques, and methods within the field of counseling.
  • Assist in enhancing human resources and contributions within the Human Resources Department.
Programme Duration
  • Full Time: 4 Years
Entry Requirements
  • Pass STPM with at least Grade C (NGMP 2.0) in TWO (2) subjects; OR
  • Pass STAM with Jayyid grade; OR
  • Pass Diploma (Level 4 KKM) in a related field with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 out of 4.00; OR
  • Pass Foundation / Matriculation or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 out of 4.00 and recognized by the University Senate, and hold SPM (for Malaysian citizens and residents only); OR
  • Other recognized equivalent qualifications accredited by the Malaysian Government.

Additional Requirement:

Meet other requirements set from time to time by the University Senate, Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), and Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE).
