Director's Foreword

The present scenarios in Malaysia still require many more registered counselors. The existing education in Malaysia is social-oriented and diverse in backgrounds and cultures thus, many more counselors are needed to help the community. Hence, we pay attention to the majority who need help. The counseling curriculum also focuses on the needs of the majority of people based on Islamic values.

The Masters of Counseling programme at the Centre for Counseling & Psychological Services (PPPKP) aims to produce knowledgeable, skilled and ethical counselors in counseling and able to register with the Board of Counselors (Malaysia). The Master in Counselingprogramme at the KolejUniversitiINSANIAH has also been approved by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and the Ministry of Higher Education (MOE) (N/762/7/0003). This programme will be handled by experienced and knowledgeable instructors. They are the pioneers and founders of counseling in Malaysia

To realise the motto of Kolej Universiti INSANIAH

Masters of Counselling Islam Opiniated was created to achieve KUIN’s motto, "Paving the way Towards Wisdom" through teaching, research, practical and publications to enable the exploration of professional science and counseling sciences, especially counseling from Islamic perspectives to bring the glory of Islam back in line with the advancement of current environment and technology. Besides that, we strive to strengthen existing Islamic discipline in KUIN.

Enhancing the existing disciplines of Islamic studies offered at INSANIAH University College.

Currently, KUIN offers courses and programmes of academic courses in Islamic studies only such as Shariah, Usuluddin, Al-Quran and Arabic language courses at Diploma level, Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree and Ph.D. So with this Master of Counseling programme, KUIN now opens new doors for knowledge mobility between conventional counseling and Islamic perspective to meet the demands of the world and the hereafter.

Providing trained and competent human resources in the field of management studies, with Islamic perspective.

By offering this program, KUIN aims to produce graduates who will become professional experts with deep understanding in the field of counseling, especially with the Islamic perspective in order to function effectively in various working environments.

Strengthening the Kedah state as a famous school of studies in the region.

The State of Kedah has been known for its long history as a centre of learning, especially Islamic studies not only in Malaysia but also in the region. With the presence of this Master of Counseling program in line with Islamic perspective, Kedah will be the main focus of students from all over the world to master knowledge and skills in the field of Counseling from Islamic perspective.

  1. To produce faithful graduates who devoted themselves to the existing Islamic appreciation by providing expertise and professionalism in the field of counseling
  2. To incorporate western counseling theories, techniques and methods with Islamic counseling knowledge.
  3. To provide professional expertise towards research, writing and consultation in Islamic perspectives of counseling.
